Mission Statement
The mission of Waikoloa Lutheran Church is the same mission that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ first commissioned to His Church after His death and resurrection, just before He ascended back into heaven.
Matthew 28: 18-20
Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
For over 2000 years Jesus' mission for his church has remained unchanged. The Waikoloa Lutheran Church ohana is committed to fulfilling the mission o four Lord by His love, grace, and power as expressed in the following way:
This simple yet powerful and transforming mission statement is based on the unbreakable truths of God's Word found in the following:
2 Corinthians 5: 14-15; 19-20
"For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again... And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us."
Isaiah 61: 1-2
(The Old Testament prophecy of the coming Savior)
"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on Me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor."
Luke 4: 18-19
(Jesus' words confirming He has fulfilled the prophecy)
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
